Collaborating with other artists feels more like work than play. It takes effort to establish a network of artists to bounce ideas off of, and it takes time to get exciting feedback.
But what if collaboration was less talking and more making?
Peek inspires artists by encouraging them to create art based on other artists' work. Users take inspiration from artists to create their own masterpieces, which in turn will inspire more artists.

We interviewed artists with different levels of experience and at different points in their careers to understand their needs and how we could improve their art-making experience. We found that artists desire authentic self-expression when doing work, and that they want community and expertise to guide their work.
Through three experience prototypes, we tested different assumptions to guide how we proceed with developing our solution. We tested whether artists are able to make connections while staying anonymous, whether artists feel inspired to create art by undecorated locations, and whether artists find building off others' arts and sharing their own art to inspire other artists rewarding.
We created a video to showcase how Peek makes finding and building off inspiration more like play than work.
We created a low-fi prototype of our app on Invision, and tested it on artists and people who are interested in creating art. We learned that users want simple tasks such as viewing an artwork to be more easily accessible.
We modified our app to incorporate what we learned from the low-fi prototype. Some changes we made include consolidating tasks to require fewer button taps, and streamlining the navigation bar to reflect the most common interactions users want from the app.
Our fellow classmates used Jakob Nielsen's Heuristic Evaluation techniques to give us feedback on our app, which we then incorporated in our High-Fi Prototype.
We implemented our high-fi prototype after incorporating feedback from our heuristic evaluation. Users can experience what it feels like to get inspired by other artists' creations and create private collaboration groups with other artists.
We presented our project at the CS147 Project Expo on Friday, Mar 19, 2021.
