Rote
Effortless scheduling done, one block at a time
Learn More

Our Mission

Giving everyone the power to control their time.

Time-Blocking

Rote allows users to take control over their time by allowing users to break down tasks into multiple time blocks throughout their schedules.

Machine Learning

Rote uses machine learning to analyze the patterns in the users schedules and incorporates the data along with other factors such as optimal attention span in making suggestions for time-blocks. Hence, scheduling with Rote only becomes easier over time.

Simple, Intuitive Design

We understand the importance of simple, intuitive design. Rote allows the user to add tasks and events into their schedule with minimum effort.

The Design Process

This is how Rote was made

  • September 22nd

    CS147, where it all started.

Gavin, Haiyin, Young and Ian met in the focus section and brainstormed many different ideas. We took those ideas and went through quick iteration prototypes on post-it notes and whiteboard discussion. We were well on our way to Rote.

    Low-Fi Prototype

After coming up with a couple possible ideas, we made low-fi prototypes on paper cutouts to mimic a mobile experience. We tested the experience and feeling of this idea by interviewing strangers. We took extensive notes on what users liked and what they didn’t.

    Medium-Fi Prototype

Using these core ideas, we sat down at the drawing board and came up with a few solutions to solve the concerns we found through interviews. After finishing up a digital prototype using inVision, other classmates conducted heuristic evaluations of our medium-fi prototype.

    High-Fi Prototype

The high-fi fidelity prototype was the last step in the process. We took into consideration the heuristic evaluations and drafted a real-working app using XCode with all the new design features minus a few functional methodology, such as NLP (natural language processing) and ML (machine learning).
