Artistic Vision: Providing Contextual Guidance for Capture-Time Decisions
November 6, 2020
With the increased popularity of cameras, more and more people are interested in learning photography. However, few have access to in-person classes to help improve upon their artistic skills. Inspired by critique sessions common in these art practice classes, my research proposes new camera interfaces that provide contextual feedback to aid users in learning elements of photography. We provide this feedback as additional information for the user at capture-time through interactively visualizing results of image processing algorithms. In designing these interfaces, we aim to provide feedback that allows users to maintain creative freedom while producing photos that they believe are higher quality.
