declutter meaningfully

Flutter makes parting with objects feel like a celebration. Our platform promotes meaningful decluttering by making the process of giving social. Team flutter is all about passing on objects you know and love to community members you know and love.

needfinding
During the initial round of needfinding, we developed a methodology for gaining insights that would shape our quarter-long team project.

From our interviews with individuals of diverse living situations and locations, we found that people value control over objects, low-commitment goals, the ability to retain and share stories, as well as the ability to preserve and build community.

experience prototype
We revisited the findings from our needfinding, interviewed more participants, and formulated points of view (POVs) for our potential users. From there, we crafted several “How Might We” (HMW) statements to frame our problem area and brainstorm solutions. We created and tested three “experience prototypes” to test assumptions. We found that decluttering sentimental objects benefits from a personal connection to, or reassurance from, the receiver.

concept video
From our selected experience prototype, we created a video to show how we imagine it working in the real world.

low-fi prototype
We used low-fi prototyping draft our user interface design. We began by brainstorming through sketching, iterated, then selected one series of task flow sketches to test further.

medium-fi prototype
Based on feedback from our low-fi prototype, we brainstormed revisions to our user interface decisions. We then built a medium-fi prototype using the interactive user interface design tool, Figma.

heuristic evaluation
Classmates evaluated our medium-fi prototype. The goal of the heuristic evaluation was to understand areas of improvement for user experience and generate ideas for potential changes.
We received a lot of good feedback. With this feedback, we went back to our med-fi prototype and made appropriate changes.
