Our team was interested in learning more about student burnout in academic institutions, so we started off by doing a literature review of the topic. We also interviewed an expert in the field and came up with a needfinding plan and preliminary discussion guide for future interviews.
Following our preliminary research, we conducted needfinding interviews with 8 participants, including undergraduate students, graduate students, and university faculty. We created empathy maps to synthesize our findings and generate actionable insights.
Based on our needfinding interviews, we created POV statements to synthesize the main surprises we learned about from our participants. Then, we generated potential solutions to the problems described by our participants, and we tested some initial assumptions using experience prototypes.
Following our low-fi prototype, we iteratively created three versions of a medium-fi prototype, using Figma. Each version took into account feedback from the previous version.
We received valuable feedback from having usability testers try out our prototype. Feedback ranged from minor, cosmetic suggestions to larger usability issues that required further redesign.
After 10 weeks, we are proud to present our final medium-fi prototype, created in Figma.
