The weight off your shoulders

Our Mission

With Spotter, we aim to empower beginners at the gym. There are many people that are motivated to start going their fitness journey but feel intimidated by experienced gym-goers and are afraid to ask for help. Our solution is to provide a quick and easy way for beginners at the gym to see where available help is.

Needfinding

During initial interviews, we explored what wellness means to professional athletes, experienced gym-goers, and beginners starting out on their fitness journey. These interviews informed our decision to focus on helping beginners start a physical fitness regimen.

POV and Experience Prototypes

By testing different ways of helping beginners at the gym, we found that matching gym volunteers with gym beginners was the most promising solution for us to pursue.

Concept Video

We created a concept video to illustrate the three tasks our app aims to help the user complete.

Lo-Fi Prototype and Test

Through three user tests of our low-fi prototype, we learned to add a centralized home page, make the navigation bar more intuitive, and fixed the browsing function.

Medium-Fi Prototype

Before creating our final prototype, we created a Medium-Fi Prototype to test our UI and UX. Click the links below to experience the prototype and learn more.

Group Heuristic Evaluation

We had four users use Jakon Nielson’s Ten Usability Heuristics as a guide in the evaluation of our Medium-Fi prototype. From the feedback, we added a FAQ page, and changed the home page to give the user a broad overview of their usage of the app.
