Putting pet care into pawspective
Ready to Fetch?

Design Themes

Our goal is to make proper dog-care knowledge and task distribution fun and accessible for dog owners - and we want to make it a family affair!

Mobile App

Fetch is developed as a mobile app to provide an "anywhere, anytime" experience. Keep track of your pet care chores schedule from your phone.

Family Friendly

Fetch hopes to involve the whole family in pet care. Parents can set tasks and rewards while children can compete to earn those rewards by completing the tasks they "snatch" at the start of each day.

Earn Rewards

For each task completed, the user can earn points. At the end of each week, the winner gets to choose a reward set by the parents! Remember, the parents can compete to win as well!

Process

A timeline of our design process.

  • Week 1-2

    Initial Needfinding

We set off to interview a variety of dog owners and a dog trainer to gain insights on what life with a dog was like. We purposefully interviewed people with a wide range in ages and dog-caring experience.

  • Week 3

    POVs and Experience Prototypes

After some additional needfinding, we settled on a few POVs and created and tested our experience prototypes to focus in on key assumptions moving forward. We ultimately decided to focus on the family experience.

  • Week 4

    Concept Video

Upon settling on our problem domain and POV, we created a short video detailing our project concept. Without going into implementation detail, we wanted to show how taking care of a dog could be fun and rewarding for everyone involved.

  • Week 5

    Low-Fi Prototype

From here, we iterated through many sketches and created a low-fi paper prototype emulating the basic screens of our idea and tested the experience with users. This helped us learn what parts people liked and what parts were confusing to navigate.

  • Week 6

    Medium-Fi Prototype

With the feedback from our initial testing, we created a medium-fi prototype using Proto.io to better present our ideas and create a semi-realistic experience of our app. Click the link below to try it yourself!

  • Week 7

    Heuristic Evaluation

Now that our basic UI/UX was prototyped, we worked as a class to peer-evaluate each others' prototypes through a heuristic evaluation, based off of Jakob Nielsen's 10 usability heuristics for UI design. Linked below is the group heuristic evaluation curated by our classmates.

  • Week 8-10

    Hi-Fi Prototype

Our final, high-fidelity prototype was created through React Native and gives a realistic experience of using our app. Feel free to try it out, snatch and complete tasks, and see if you can earn a reward!

  • Week 9-10

    Final Poster and Pitch

We also presented our design to the class through a 30 second pitch and poster session.

And finally, a huge thank you to our professor, the TAs, our classmates, and wonderful users for helping us make dog-care a family affair!

Our Team

Team Fetch consists of 4 Stanford students in Computer Science and Symbolic Systems. All are passionate about designing accessible and effective technology, and of course, caring for our furry friends.
