We're your rock
Through various needfinding techniques the BOLDer team discovered both the necessity for getting out of our comfort zone to accomplish goals and the stress created by doing so. Whether it is meeting new people, public speaking, or finally getting the courage to talk to your crush, everybody needs a little push to try new things and reach their full potential. With voice driven communication, our product enables, encourages, and prepares you to conquer your everyday tasks with confidence and ease.
Artistically and technically talented, developed app idea in early stages and laid groundwork for final implementation.
Handled technical aspect of projects and was in charge of website.
Utility member of team that contributed to all components of the project throughout the quarter.
Technical team member that spearheaded Medium and High Fidelity prototypes and gave our app its final appearance.
We began our project journey by interviewing community members about their personal relationship with mental health. We listened to their stories, asked questions, and then built POVs from their statements. Our greatest insight from this process was that people wanted self-care routines that were tailored to their lifestyles.
We returned to the field and gained additional insights from more interviews. Here, we learned that young people often don't learn about resiliency while in grade school. We built three revised POVs, and designed experience prototypes for each of them. We determined that we wanted to expand on the prototype that guided people to tackle unfamiliar experiences.
Now that we had an idea in mind, we played with our creative energy to direct a short concept video about the relationship between the user and product. We discovered BOLDer's story and came away with a more refined vision of how it could be used.
We created a paper prototype to test BOLDer on real people and real experiences. We wanted to see if our product was intuitive and fun to use, especially for young adults and teenagers. For the most part, we were successful; people reported having a lot of fun navigating BOLDer's features! But we had a bit more work to do to nail down the usability of it's features.
We used Figma and Marvel to design a working prototype of our app. In addition, we recorded a short video illustrating how we imagined the earpiece component of our product would work. We wanted people to feel encourages, invited, and inspired when using BOLDer in their day-to-day life.
Now that we had something that resembled a working application, we handed off BOLDer to our class for a heuristic evaluation. We received detailed feedback about how our product needed to be changed and improved, and we came up with a plan to tackle those challenges in our final iteration.
After many hours of hard work the BOLDer team finally created a High-Fidelity implementation of its product. Using tools such as Expo, Github, React Native, and Sublime, a quarter's worth of research and design came to life in our application.
BOLDer Instructional Video
Anxiety and stress plague young adults in our hyper digital and connected society. Teens, college students, and young professionals are attached to their screens, losing touch with their innate social interaction skills and compounding the burden of communicating with those around us. The BOLDer app aims to reverse this trend by allowing its users to improve their social interaction skills by practicing them and setting goals, and encouraging young adults away from their screens. BOLDer, we’re your rock.
