What we do

Food is being wasted.

Americans waste as much as 40% of all food produced in the United States. Moreover, much of this food is still perfectly edible. As America pushes towards a sustainable future, it is impossible to neglect the food industry, especially the waste that it produces.

People are going hungry.

Meanwhile, forty-eight million Americans live in food insecure households. This includes millions of children and people who don't even have access to food stamps.

Three birds, one stone.

CleanPlate seeks to empower the average citizen to bridge this gap by taking excess, quality food and produce from restaurants that otherwise would have wasted it and lets you deliver it to nearby homeless shelters and food banks. CleanPlate helps the restaurant waste less food, helps the donation center serve more food, and rewards you for helping out.

Who we are

Brandon Liu
Business Development

Brandon Liu beat Bryan in ping-pong earlier today. He may not be on the BASES Business Development team, but the fact that he's on BASES at all makes him more qualified than Bryan and Michael in any sort of business role.

Bryan McLellan
iOS Developer

Bryan McLellan is a man who loves to eat. He almost always finishes his food, but when he doesn’t he wished there was some way that that food wouldn’t go to waste. He also enjoys playing soccer, basketball, ping-pong and iOS development.

Michael Zhu
UI/UX, Web Developer

Michael Zhu is an HCI God, but prefers theory. His many roles on the CleanPlate team include UI/UX designer, web designer/developer, chief videographer, and ping-pong champion.

Bridge the gap between food waste and hunger.
