Stanford CS 147 Student Project Presentations Friday, Dec. 4th 6 PM – 9 PM
Each year, students in Stanford's introductory Design Thinking for User Experience (dt+UX) course (CS 147) organize into teams and spend a quarter iteratively designing, prototyping, and evaluating a user interface.
Come join us on Friday, December 4th, from 6 PM - 9 PM to see what the 62 student teams created this quarter. Dinner is on us. It is a great chance to meet top students in computer science, design, symbolic systems, MS&E and other majors who have an interest in user interfaces. This select group of students includes the designers, programmers, and evaluation specialists of the future.
The students had an especially challenging design charge this quarter. They were asked to create a mobile computing application that addressed one of ten design themes. The resulting projects have interesting mobile interfaces and usage models.
The dt+UX Project Fair will take place on the Stanford campus, in the d.school Atrium. Details on the project fair activities, this quarter's projects, and how to get there follow.
Activities
We will start the evening by my giving a 15 minute overview of what was taught in the dt+UX course this quarter and how the student projects were structured. Next, each team will give a 30 second presentation to give you a taste of their project.
Following the end of the presentations, we will have food, drinks, and a demo/poster session to give you a chance to meet the students and see all of the projects up close. At the end will present a series of awards to the top projects.
This is your opportunity to find out more about the current state of the art of human-computer interaction and design education, to learn its role in a university curriculum, and to see some novel ideas presented by some of the top students in the country.
Projects
The 62 innovative group projects look at applications and services on mobile platforms.
