README.txt Instructions for using the foodshed medium-fi prototype. ---LINK TO APP--- The med-fi prototype can be found at this URL: http://invis.io/W81LSX892 ---DESCRIPTION--- This prototype is of the foodshed app, an app that allows the user to quickly gather information about food products' sustainability by scanning their barcode. The app includes functionality to store products, compare saved products, and leave reviews. ---BASIC USAGE--- InVision allows visitors to the link to use the medium-fi prototype with motions equivalent to the true motions used to manipulate the app. The app mock-up at the URL can be manipulated in a browser by clicking on the buttons, indicating a finger tap on the mobile device. The user can also click and drag or scroll with the mouse wheel to represent scrolling with fingers. The app mock-up can also be downloaded to mobile devices, in which case it can be opened and manipulated as if it were a full app installed on the device. This mock-up contains full product information for two products: (1) Braeburn Apple from ClearView Orchard and (2) Granny Smith Apple from Alba Organic. No further product information is accessible, due to the nature of the prototype, which is not backed by a real database. The two products provided allow the user of the mock-up to experience the performance of the app on sample information. ---SCREENS AND LIMITATIONS--- -Home Screen- The first screen encountered at the link is the 'Home' screen, which displays a dummy barcode in the scanning box. In order to scan the barcode, the user should click the scan button on the bottom of the screen. Due to the limitations of the mock-up tool, the user should click the left half of the scan button to simulate scanning a Granny Smith apple, and click the right half of the scan button to simulate scanning a Braeburn apple. The folder button at the top left will take the user to the 'Saved' screen, and the button at the top right will exit the app completely, though that functionality is not implemented in this mock-up. -Product Info Screen- Upon scanning the product, the 'Product Info' screen will come up. This screen displays relevant information about the product's sustainability. The bar at the top is a sticky bar, so it stays at the top of the screen when the user scrolls down. The button at the left side of the bar is the menu button. Clicking this opens the navigation menu. Due to the limitations of the mock-up tool, opening the navigation menu when the 'Product Info' screen is scrolled down will place the user back at the top of the page, with the menu open. The button to the right of the sticky bar is the exit button, which will return the user to the 'Home' screen. Other buttons on the product info screen include the star-shaped save button, which is intended to save the product to the saved folder. Due to the limitations of the mock-up tool, the saved folder is pre-filled with both sample products. The folder-shaped button beneath the save button will take the user to the 'Saved' screen, displaying saved products. The ALT button at the left of the 'Product Info' screen will take the user to the 'Alternatives' screen for that product. Clicking on the sustainability score box will take the user to the 'Score Breakdown' screen for that product. Clicking the '+' button at the bottom of the 'Product Info' screen in the Reviews section will take the user to the 'Leave a Review' screen. -Alternatives Screen- The 'Alternatives' screen lists similar products along with their score and a link to the 'Product Info' screen for each alternative. Due to the sparse data we have, and the limitations of the mock-up tool, the links to the 'Product Info' screen for each alternative is not functional. The button on the top right of the 'Alternatives' screen is a back button, to take the user to the previous screen. -Saved Screen- The 'Saved' screen lists all products which have been saved. Users check two items for comparison, an action which is not currently implemented due to limits of InVision. Upon checking the two items, the user can click the compare button at the bottom of the 'Saved' screen, which takes the user to the 'Comparison' screen. -Comparison Screen- The 'Comparison' screen shows two products in short, one on top of the other. Information displayed on the screen includes the sustainability score for each product, and their location, certifications, and score breakdown overview. There are links to the right of each product to go to their 'Product Info' screen. The button in the top right is the back button. -Score Breakdown Screen- The 'Score Breakdown' screen shows the breakdown of the sustainability score for a product into various buckets including locality, organic, farming practices, and community impact, with the total cumulative score displayed at the bottom of the screen. A short description for each bucket shows why the product is given the score it has. The button at the top right of the screen is the back button. -Leave a Review Screen- The 'Leave a Review' screen shows the interface for leaving a review. When the user clicks in the lower text box, a QWERTY keyboard appears to simulate the typing interface. Due to the limitations of the mock-up tool, the user cannot actually type into the field, nor can the user select the number of stars for the rating. Clicking outside the QWERTY keyboard will minimize it. The user can click the post button at the bottom of the 'Leave a Review' screen to simulate posting the review to the relevant page, then returning to the 'Home' screen. Due to the limitations of the mock-up tool, this implementation is not complete, so no new review will show up on the relevant 'Product Info' screen.
