Even simple interactive devices have many usability and safety problems. This talk reviews some of those problems, and how they can be detected either in design (using formal methods) or by getting feedback from users (using new digital story telling techniques).

Harold Thimbleby is Professor of Computer Science at Swansea University, Wales. He is Director of the Future Interaction Technology Lab. His latest book, Press On (MIT Press), will be published in 2007.
