Assignment 12: Final Presentation
Due: Thursday March 18, in class, starting 12:15pm
brief
Your final presentation will be made to your classmates and an invited panel of outside experts. This is a great opportunity to share the exciting work you've done in the course. You should create a slide presentation using Powerpoint or PDF and also be prepared to give an interactive demo of your system.
More specifically:
- Your presentation should be no more than 8 minutes in length.
- This will leave more time for questions and discussion.
- This is short enough to allow you to practice your talk multiple times. Do so!
- All group members should prominently participate in the talk.
- Your talk should (roughly) follow this structure:
- Start by introducing the group and your mission statement.
- Clearly articulate the problem/need/opportunity your project is intended to address. Use a (very) short motivating example if appropriate.
- Show what you did. The best way to do this is with a live DEMO. Scope the demo so that it features the most important and interesting components of the system.
- After the demo, highlight the key facets of your project. What are the key insights or design ideas underlying your system? Use evidence gained from user testing (either early-stage prototyping or later evaluation) to help argue why these are the most salient points.
- Conclude by discussing the next steps and future trajectory of the project. How would you like to see the project evolve next quarter? Next year? In 10 years?
- Note that it is hard to fit the above into 8 minutes. You will want to practice and iterate!
turn-in
Upload your slides, and (optionally) the script for your system demo.
