Assignment 1: Name Passports — Grade Value: 2.5%
Due in Studio on September 27/28

brief

Create three distinct versions of an interface to help others get to know you at your first studio.

assignment

Please create three distinct versions of an interface to you: a Name Passport.  Follow the examples from class.  A Name Passport is like a regular passport: it has a lot of information about you and is designed to be processed in a short amount of time.  Each name passport must have:

At least one of the name passports must include a real photograph of you. The others can include real photographs or sketches of you, at your option.

design goals and constraints

in studio

You will present your name passports to the studio in the format of a design critique. Students and staff will critique the work (not the person!) on originality and effectiveness.

You will be evaluated by your studio leader on the variety of ideas explored and whether you have met the above design goals, not on the amount of polish you apply to each design.

note

We understand that some folks will register for the course after the first day of class. Students that enroll in the course late may submit this assignment anytime until Thursday, October 4th (end of second week) without penalty.

grading rubric

The assignment was graded out of 25 points. If a student turned in three distinct name passports with all required content, s/he received all 25 points. 8 points were subtracted for each name passport that was either not submitted, or did not have the required content.
